LAUNDRY DAY // LA GRANDE LESSIVE

2022

Lesya Godfrey & Linus Gruszewski, in collaboration with ERE Foundation

A web of stretched fabric nets occupies the concrete rotonde. Fabricated from reclaimed textiles, the piece transforms discarded materials into a complex lacework, drawing in visitors to explore the space within.

Through a process of deconstruction, we used the geometry of ordinary garments to generate a tensile structure, to which the public can affix customised labels, thus reclaiming ownership and responsibility for the clothes we’ve thrown away.

This piece was commissioned for the IMAGINATIONS show at Palais de Tokyo in 2022
